A Career Built Around Preparation, People, and Details
John F. Heinz is the founder and Managing Director of Prismark Signature Services, a Los Angeles-based mobile notary and document signing company serving individuals, families, attorneys, escrow professionals, businesses, and clients with domestic and international document needs.
Before founding Prismark Signature Services, John spent nearly four decades in television as a producer, writer, and director. His career took him from London and Paris to New York City, Hollywood, and locations around the world, in environments where preparation, discretion, communication, and deadlines mattered.
From New York City to the Television Industry
After earning a business degree in Finance from Indiana University, John headed to London and Paris to complete his studies before relocating to New York City to begin his career in television production.
In New York, he worked in film and television, from motion picture distribution at Cannon Films to the French Film Office, MTV, VH-1, and Nickelodeon.
He later spent more than 10 years producing educational television for Channel One News, writing and producing long-form documentary-style stories and live television while working across time zones. Assignments took him across the United States and around the world – from the South Pole to Santa Fe, Cuba to Chernobyl, Moscow to Maine.
The work included challenging international and politically sensitive environments, where preparation, judgment, adaptability, and clear communication mattered.
Among the journalists and television personalities he worked with in news were Anderson Cooper, Lisa Ling, Monica Novotny, and Tracy Smith.
John also produced and directed programming for The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, and Food Network, adding to a career that crossed educational television, cable networks, syndicated programming, and network television.
20+ Years as a DGA Director at CBS
John went on to spend more than two decades as a Directors Guild of America director for CBS television, working on the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood, including 20 years on Dr. Phil.
More than two decades in fast-paced corporate and network television required John to coordinate people and complex logistics, communicate clearly with executives, production teams, and guests, protect confidentiality, adapt quickly, and deliver under demanding deadlines with little room for error.
Those are many of the same qualities John brings to every Prismark assignment today: professionalism, discretion, careful preparation, clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm when an important transaction has to be completed correctly and on time.

Working across continents, cultures, and time zones taught John how to navigate unfamiliar environments, manage complicated logistics, communicate with people from remarkably different backgrounds, and remain focused when circumstances changed without warning.
Whether in a network television studio, on a remote assignment, or working in war zones and other challenging international settings, the expectation was the same: be prepared, remain calm, solve problems, and deliver.
Today, he brings that world of knowledge and professional experience to Prismark Signature Services. A real estate closing, estate planning package, hospital signing, jail or detention assignment, or international document request may be unfamiliar or stressful to the client. John approaches it with the same discipline that guided his television career: prepare carefully, communicate clearly, anticipate problems, and get the details right.

After nearly 40 years in television, John did not leave behind the professional standards of his first career. He brought them with him.

John’s experience working across cultures and managing complicated logistics has become particularly valuable in these assignments, where the client may be thousands of miles away while the document problem is here in California.
Beyond the Office
Outside of his professional work, John is a lifelong world traveler with interests in languages, photography, music, physical fitness, martial arts, and the outdoors.
A PADI-certified scuba instructor, John has privately taught diving in Fiji, Tahiti, and Vanuatu. He is also a photographer, has practiced jiu-jitsu, and has played in a samba band.
Languages and international culture have been lifelong interests. John speaks French and Spanish, has studied German, Italian, and Japanese, and has picked up bits and pieces of several other languages through years of travel and international work.
When he is not working in Los Angeles and Southern California, John enjoys spending time in Maine, Oaxaca, Mexico, and Colombia, visiting family and friends and continuing the international life that has been a constant thread throughout his career and personal life.
